Google Domains transfer 60 day lock
-
I purchased the domain name kalmiamom.com on google domains. I did a 5 year purchase and want to begin my website using wordpress. What are the steps I need to take to begin making my website? I was told it is under a 60 day lock from the time I purchased it. I have not done ANYTHING other than purchase the domain name yet as I’m still trying to figure out how to start and what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am brand new at all of this.

Yes, your domain was registered on 2023-09-02, and domains have a 60-day lock before they can be transferred to another register. This is a
That said, it’s possible to have your domain with one provider like Google Domains), but use it to host a website with another provider (like WordPress.com).
Please follow the support article below to connect your existing domain to your WordPress.com site. Kindly note that if you don’t have a WordPress.com site already, you’ll need to create one first… with a paid plan… before you can link your domain to it.
If you already own a domain name with another provider, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Follow the steps in this guide to keep your domain registered with your current provider and connect it to your WordPress.com site. Even if you choose to build your site elsewhere and not here on WordPress.com, after the 60-day restriction has passed (it’s an ICANN restriction that can’t be broached), you might want to consider transferring your domain to WordPress.com since Google Domains have given their domain business over to another registrar.
Your 5-year domain registration will also be extended for an additional year when you transfer it here.

What are the steps I need to take to begin making my website?
If you haven’t yet done so, create a free website here on WordPress.com (you’ll need to upgrade your site to at least the Personal plan in order to use the domain connection option or use your domain as primary when you transfer it).
There are many options for creating a WordPress.com website depending on your goals. I’d suggest starting with the “Getting Started” guide and if you are very new to all this, go more in depth with our free course on “Getting Started”.

Thank you both for your help/replies, we’re already beginning to look at the course and info it contains.
Another question I have is, if I begin building my website with wordpress.com in the url, when I transfer kalmiamom.com over to wordpress.com after the 60 day lock, does all my content on the wordpress.com url STAY the same? OR do I have to start over from scratch once I transfer?
I’m sorry for so many questions, and this one might be answered in the course or articles listed above but wanted to post it here anyways.

Asking questions is how we learn. :)
The site content will stay the same whether you use your mysiteon.wordpress.com address or your custom domain kalmiamom.com. You also can keep your site hidden from public view until you’re ready by not launching it or by making it Private. More on that here: https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/
If you want to start using your custom domain right away, you can do that by upgrading to any paid plan and using the domain connection option that @georgeappiah linked to in his reply.
Hope that helps!
