Google Events not appearing on calendar

  • Unknown's avatar

I have followed all of the very simple steps to embed the calendar in my wordpress blog; but the events still do not show up. http://www.kansasfirefightercalendar.com/content0/calendarevents/

When I log in to google calendar in another browser tab, the events will show up on my wordpress site; but as soon as I log out, they disappear. The calendar is set to public. I have even gone in to each individual event and changed it from “default” to “public” with still no luck. Ideas?

    Have you followed these instructions?

    Embed a Google Calendar

Yes. Those are the simple steps I was referring to. They actually need to be updated because the current google interface does not have the settings button there anymore, it is now in the upper right area rather than on the left. But yes, I have followed those instructions. Everything is set to public even down to the event but is not showing up unless I am logged in to the google calendar in another tab in that browser.

I have actually found three places to click to access the sharing and have ensured it is shared in all methods.

Under “Calendar Address” there is a link to “Change sharing settings” for the calendar and I click there, which takes me to the main “Share this calendar” page where it is already checkmarked by “Make this calendar public.” Just to be sure, I clicked Save again.

You can directly click on “Share this calendar” in the settings and get that same screen where the public sharing is checked.

Then I also made sure each, individual event is set to “Public” although I am sure “default” should inherit the sharing of the whole calendar.. I manually set it to Public.

    Still nothing.

FOUND THE PROBLEM!! (I love it when this happens!!)

So under “Make this calendar public – This calendar will appear in public google search results.” is another checkbox…

“Share only my free/busy information (Hide details)” which is also checked by default.

What that really means is that your events, no matter the free/busy status, will not show up on the calendar display. I UNCHECKED that box (which was checked by default) and viola! My calendar is displaying events now.

Your instructions need to be updated with all the new info, locations, layout etc…

    Thanks!!
