Google Gears

  Google Gears is no longer supported beyond Firefox 3.6. Therefore, I am stuck way back on FF 3.6 due to the Gears inclusion. I figure I need Gears because WP is slow as molasses without Gears. If I move up to newer versions of FF, I will be without Gears support. Does that mean the WP will continue to be as slow as mud, or has this issue been resolved yet? What are the rest of your doing? Are you on more recent versions of FF without Gears, and how is WP working for you minus Gears?

  Gears is dead and could well start to create problems for those still trying to use it. WordPress is quick for me on FF5 and 6 and on Safari 5.1. You do have to wait for the browser to cache some of the page elements, but even on my sometimes painfully slow wireless internet connection WP loads pretty quickly (that is until I clear my cache and then have to start over).

  I’m using Chrome, and the slowness I see is mainly due to Chrome extensions, not the browser or WP.com.

  And without a link to the “slow” site nobody can even guess much as to what is happening with your blog. Posting a link to your site beginning with http would help people help you.
