Google isn't finding my blog

    I very recently reactivated this blog with a new name — and google isn’t finding it at all if I search for it even with a past month date range. But you can’t make this up: It just found the post I so recently posted about changing font size in posts. I’m not sure what to do. I saw something about claiming your blog in your SEO article, but is that what I should do?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,

    As you have recently reactivated your blog, it is likely that Google hasn’t indexed your site since you have done so. WordPress.com automatically sends notifications to Google with every post and page update. The search engines can take 4-6 weeks or more to add any new sites or changes.

    This WordPress.com Webmaster tools documentation will provide you with more information. You may wish to explore Google’s Search Console which can provide you with information including the total number of individual URLs on your site that have been indexed by Google.

    Hi gemmagarner –

    Thanks for replying. That does help. Although it’s not comforting in that it might take so long, but is hopeful in that I really hope they DO index it eventually. BTW, is that google search console available to anyone or just premium?

    Having been away from WP for a while, it’s taking a bit to get used to where everything is :-)

    I’m sure you will back up to speed in no time :)

    Google Search Console is a separate free service provided by Google, all you need to get started is a Google account.

    WordPress.com have written step by step instructions for using the service.

    I would also recommend checking that your privacy settings are not blocking search engines. To access this setting, go to My Site → Settings and look for Privacy. Your blog needs to be marked as Public in order to be accessed by search engines.

    Thanks. Actually I do also have a google account, but I don’t think I’ve
    EVER used Google Search Console. Thanks for the link to that guide…. when I have some time to peruse it, I’ll definitely give it a look.

    Now I don’t know if you can help, but I’d also posted a help topic about changing font size – and no one has replied. I’d love some help on that as the font seems VERY small…. that was one reason I abandoned WP before. So if you could nudge someone to help, that would be awesome…
