    Hi Danny,

I tried adding your embed codes to a test site, and the embeds loaded correctly. So the connection to Google isn’t the issue.

I also tried editing the dimensions in the shortcode to something that fit better into the column. When I previewed the changes, the maps loaded for a moment, but quickly disappeared.

There must be something in your theme, Oxford, that is interfering with the display of the map. If it was the google embed itself they would not have loaded even for a moment.

I tested this out on another theme using columns, called Cols, and found the same issue.

I’ve submitted a report on this to our theme developers. We’ll let you know if we can work out a fix. :)

For an immediate workaround, I might suggest adding an image with a link to a Google Map in lieu of the embedded map, or switch the post to single-column.

Thanks for reporting this issue! :)

    Best,

    -Alex G.

thanks so much and waiting for your help :)

so do you can fix this problem?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Danny,

I apologize for the wait. The WordPress.com theme staff and myself have been able to replicate the problem, but the Oxford theme itself is actually produced by another theme developer. Before we can push a solution into the WordPress.com environment, we need the theme developer to sign off on a solution for the theme itself.

We have alerted that developer of the issue, but I’m not sure yet if a fix has been decided on.

I’ll make sure to alert you whenever I have new information.

    Best,

    -Alex G.

    Hi there!

My apologies for the long wait, but the theme developer has now resolved the column issue. If you’ll view your page in multiple browsers, you’ll find that the maps now load correctly in most of them — Firefox, Safari, etc.

There is an issue in Google Chrome right now. There is a known bug in the browser for when elements are iframed into later columns. If you’d be willing to move the maps in your post such that they are placed in the first column, the maps will load correctly in Chrome, but since they’re in the 2nd column they’ll not load right now.

Once that bug is fixed in Chrome though, it will work for your site. No adjustments needed on your end unless you’d like to do that 1st column workaround for now.
