Sometimes staff change things without telling us. Did you used to be able to use the code in the Visual editor? Try putting it in the HTML editor instead, then hitting Update.

I am encountering the same issue. Using the HTML editor, not the Visual. Copied below is the message I just sent WordPress Support. Anybody have any ideas?
I did:
Went to a Google Map that I created:
and used the “Link” link to get iframe code to embed in my website:
<iframe width=”425″ height=”350″ frameborder=”0″ scrolling=”no” marginheight=”0″ marginwidth=”0″ src=”http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=35.101934,-95.712891&spn=64.25716,70.576172&t=h&msid=208549682198117587615.00049ca436b950e9f0d70&output=embed”></iframe>
<small>View The Alps, Jamaica in a larger map</small>I pasted this code into the HTML view of the page editor of one of the pages on my website, then clicked Update.
I saw:
The iframe code was turned into a shortcode:
But when I view the page, nothing appears below the title; the shortcode produces no output.
I expected:
To see an embedded Google Map in my page. I have done this on other WordPress sites with essentially the same procedure, and it seems to work intermittently; I can’t figure out what makes it work and what makes it fail.

My embedded Google Maps have disappeared too.
I followed the instructions as per WordPress.com help and the map was displaying fine. Today, I’ve checked the post and the map has completely gone – the post itself has not been updated.
Help?

right. I’m having the same issue…pretty discouraging after working for hours creating the finicky-as-hell google map. I’ve been updating the google map I want embedded for the last couple months but it’s just not working this time…

@wheelsandfeet – if you have the map as you want it – copy the link code but save it in a plain text editor – if you have a PC Notepad is already installed – then save the file – that will save the link in a plain text file – then when the problem here is done then you just past the code in your site.

The Happiness Engineers has posted above that they are working on the problem, I would expect one of them to post here when things are fixed.

same on my website, used to have a nifty map feature embedded on the site. now all that shows is the text on the website, no images.

Same issue here – does anyone have any alternative ideas for maps on travel blogs? You know, the kind that track your path.

there’s a program called Spot that tracks your positioning via GPS and records it in a locale that you specify! it costs some dough, though…
