Google not picking up my blog

  I created this ‘green careers blog’ more than 2 months ago but it still doesn’t come up in a Google search.

  Under ‘Privacy Settings,’ I have ‘Blog Visibility’ set to ‘I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines…’

  What’s the problem?

  Google has indexed your site: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=site:http://greencareersblog.wordpress.com/&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 .

  Depending on how many hits you are getting, it can take anywhere from 3 months to a year before your blog will gain enough pagerank with the search engines to appear higher up in searches.

  Since you apparently have “unknown” page rank (which is below 0 (zero) I would suggest signing up for Google Webmaster tools and then verifying your site with Google. The details are here: http://support.wordpress.com/verifying-with-google-webmaster-tools/

  Make sure you have tags and categories for each post – no more than 12 in total, so I’ve heard. Also, when you post a photo, make sure you make the name of the photo as descriptive as possible, so the search engines will up each word as keywords. Most of the searches that land on my blog come via photos, not the posts.
