Google Pagerank
-
I’m sitting in the PayPerPost forums looking around and found a thread where folks list their PRs.
Mostly 2’s and 3’s :)
-
NEMESIS! What great news! Now what can we do to help their ratings fall down to zero hmmmm?
-
-
Everyone does realize that we’re going to take a hit on the next Google update with the change in the forum location, right?

I don’t know about the rest of us but Google has only picked up the links for my blog from here in the forums, the WordPress MultiUser forums, the wp.org forums and, for some reason, Cornell’s site. Most of my PR was generated from just those four sites. If you change one of those from a PR of 6 which is what the forums here had to a 0 which is what the forums currently have since it’s a new URL, it will probably take some off of your own PRs.
At least temporarily. Once Google finds the new location of the forums, things should improve later on.
-
I don’t think Google EVER picked up a link to my blog from the forums, not even when I said, “for an example, check out this post on my blog…” Not once.
-
-
Links in these forums use the rel=”nofollow” tag and so Google does not follow the links and does not assign a value to them for PR.
If Google ever picks up the links here in this forum, that is a defect. They rel=”nofollow” tag specifically tells them that the links are to be ignored.

Does anyone here ever egosurf with wholinkstome.com? I think they might be fubared. It shows the exact same number of links etc. for my blog as it does for a very new site (with which I am not affiliated, btw), horsesforthesoul.ca. Ain’t no way they’ve got as many links as I do. If I go to Google Advanced Search, horsesforthesoul.ca has 7 links and Bridlepath has 197. (Including many I didn’t know about. Cool.
-
The links within posts do have the nofollow but not the links under your user name do not. Those are still active.
-
Then why isn’t anyone picking them up?
Egosurf.com is broken, too. Last week it gave me 11000 points for my Google search results, this week 0.
-
I belive you mean egosurf.org. The *.com is a domain squatter.
And I can’t even get the results page to load in Netscape.
-
Right, .org, sorry. It loads okay in IE, but the results are broken since they “improved” it last week. Now you can egosurf yourself in google, MSN, Yahoo, Technorati, etc. Technorati and Google results are wildly inaccurate, though.
-
I know I use marketleap.com to compare the search engine results and they go through this every so often when a search engine will either block them from accessing their site or the API changes on teh search engine side. This may be occuring here.
