Google ranking

A quick question regarding Google ranking. On the admin page of our blogs, we can see the search terms people use to find our blogs. More and more people are finding their way to my blog via google and other search engines. I have a Google tool bar on my web browser. The tool bar happens to have a page rank. This page is listed as 6/10 as it is obviously a popular.

When people started finding their way to my blog via search terms, I was surprised. So I took their search terms and searched in Google using their search terms. To my utter surprise, I showed up on the first page in many of these searches. What I am wondering is why are these pages listed as 0/10 in Google ranking but showing up on the first page in a search query?

My blog really is a very small nitch and a topic that is not likely to generate a whole lot of readers. That’s okay because I did not start my blog with the desire or intent to bring in a lot of readers. In fact, I’m surprised it has done as well as it has. I’m just curious how come many of my pages show up on the first page in a google search query but listed as 0/10 in page ranking.

    Thanks!

Google Page Rank is broken, and Google itself doesn’t normally use it anymore.

Thanks. That makes sense. How I rank doesn’t matter since people are finding their way to the blog. I was curious. Well, if it’s broken and they don’t use it, they should not include it on their tool bar.

    Anyway, thanks for the response.
