Google Relevance after migration

    Hi guys,

I’m about to migrate my WP.com blog to a WP.org. But I’m afraid I’ll loose relevance on Google.
What do I have to do to avoid it?

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

If you keep your custom domain, you should not see too big of a change in your search engine results. Moving a site can cause a bit of a hiccup in your stats, in part because of the transition itself, as updating the DNS records across the internet can take up to 72 hours. However, you should rebound quickly.

    Hi Jackie,

    Thanks for your reply!
So, I should do nothing? Just migrate, keep the same URL, and wait 72 hours for DNS records updating?

    tiaemilia,

That should be all you need to do. Make sure you update your nameservers once you’ve got your new site set up and that should be it. To update that information, you’ll need to log in to your domain registrar’s domain management area and point the domain to your new hosting.
