Hi – When I search for yoga in my area my blog isn´t coming up in the google search. I use key words such as “yoga en menorca” or “yoga menorca” . How can I improve my blogs position in the search? And if I go premium will that improve my search listing?

    My blog is yogamomentsmenorca.wordpress.com.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi,
Take into account that Google may take from 4 to 6 weeks to include your site in their search engines.
I suggest looking at these links:

    I hope this helps

  • Hi there. A Premium upgrade won’t improve your search ranking.

Using the right key words is no guarantee that your site will appear at the top of search results. Search engines consider a host of factors, including but not limited to how many other sites link to or quote yours, how often your site has new content, whether your content is original or just the same as every other site writing about that topic, etc. I read a while ago that Google gives preference to sites that have their own Google+ page as well, but they could have changed that again in the meantime as Google is constantly adjusting their algorithms and the criteria used.

There is no way to game the system and trying to can actually lead to your site dropping in search ranking.

Best is to just focus on creating good quality content on a regular basis. That’s the best way to improve your site’s search ranking in the long term.

kokkieh – Thank you – and I understand what you mean about the content.
But I still don’t understand why there are inactive blogs from years ago for my local area that are coming up before my blog in a search which is active and newer? Any ideas?
Any help with this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

I completely get that you don’t understand, but I’m afraid I can’t explain it either. These past two weeks my blog’s traffic have suddenly quadrupled after a year-old post somehow made it to the first page in a Google search. I did absolutely nothing – I hadn’t been sharing the post or promoting it in any way, and all of a sudden everyone who searches the topic I wrote that post about is clicking on my blog. My more recent posts don’t get nearly the same amount of traffic.

I’m telling you this to try and show that search engines are unpredictable. You can do everything “right” in terms of SEO and it’s no guarantee you’ll come out at the top of search results. I’ve heard it said jokingly that even Google isn’t completely sure how their search algorithms work.

Look at the links @carladoria provided, and follow the advice there, but also know there’s no shortcut, at least that I know of, to improve search rankings. Create content that others will want to link to, and then comment on other sites so that they, hopefully, will want to come and see what you’re writing. Over time, as you build up backlinks from other sites, your search ranking should improve, but it’s not something you can really control.
