Google Search only Indexes Pages and a single Post – Other posts won’t show!

    Hello! I’ve had my blog for several years now and I started to wonder why I don’t get reads from outside shares I make on FB and Twitter. I entered my site:domain_name in my browser and noticed that only the pages (homepage, about, contact) and one specific blog post show up in the search. This happens to be the only blog post I can do a Google search on. Likewise I can do a Google search for my blog’s homepage itself and it will show but can’t do that for individual posts (except that single one!).

    From what I’ve read so far I’ve set the necessary settings correctly (Reading->Site Indexing).

    I’m using the Free version of WordPress and the Independent Publisher 2 template, if that’s relevant. I’m not sure what specifically about pages and that one post makes them show up on Google search! I’ve had my blog for around 5 years now, so its definitely not a new blog/new posts issue.

    Adding to the above, based on examining my site statistics, it does seem like search engine terms were working up until the last couple of years. I changed my theme recently from “Nucleare” to “Independent Publisher 2”. I don’t think that should’ve affected it but that’s the only recent major change I’ve made to my site which otherwise just follows the template.

    Hello there,

    I can see that the domain and the site is searchable and can be indexed by search engines.

    Looking at your referrers, I can see search engines are also sending traffic to the site.

    The plan and theme wouldn’t have any baring on how well/often a site gets crawled. I would recommend pushing traffic to the site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-more-views-and-traffic/

    Thank you! I think I’ve figured that this seems to be something on Google’s end. The domain and site itself are searchable but individual posts were not. I requested indexing on Google’s Search Console on a post-by-post basis and some of them now seem to be indexed.

    Search engines were sending traffic to my site a couple of years ago but I stopped blogging a while back and looks like Google deindexed my posts at this point.

    Thanks for the suggested pages, will look into them!
