Google search results show sidebar text as main text entry. Weird.

Why does my copyright statement show up as my lead-in paragraph on Google search results? It’s not
or

This is particularly true of individual blog posts. Find one at naniprints.com and search on it to see what I mean. When a search reveals a whole list of posts and the text with them says “don’t even think of copying this,” it doesn’t make anyone want to click on the links to the stories, I’m sure!

    Hi there,

I did a couple of searches for your site and I wasn’t able to see anything with with a copyright in it.

Here’s a screenshot of a google search when I just searched for your site name:

And here’s one from when I searched for one of your articles:

It seems like google has picked up the contents of your site!

We are not able to change what Google indexes on their search results. For more information you can read our FAQ about search engines here:

Thanks for your help. I realized after I saw your post that the searches I had done had been on my name (nani paape), not my stories themselves, and those searches brought up the stories as the search results, and the copyright statement as the text, probably because it has my name in it!

In general I have been very pleased with how well my blog shows up in search results. Nice work, WordPress!

    Nani
