Google search results using WordPress tags
-
I was trying to see how our site was doing in terms of google ranking and in the process discovered that our posts were coming up in the google results using a wordpress-generated url. Here’s an example: wordpress.com/tag/vashon-real-estate/ Anyway, at one point that url worked and our posts were displayed and our blog was featured but now the same urls in the google results say there is nothing there despite the dozens of post we have using those tags. Can someone help me understand this?

BTW – The only thing that happened between the time that the links WERE working and when they stopped is that I updated the image for my wordpress avatar but I can’t see how that would impact it at all.

Google is farting around with how it ranks WP.com blogs. They do it all the time…I saw one of my posts move three pages in Google in just fifteen minutes, and I personally know the other blog posts on the front page, because I made most of them on different sites, and I know they didn’t get updated in the meantime. It’s very odd but all we can do is let Google tinker and occasionally scream at them via their Help button.

It’s just too weird. The link was broken (by that I mean that following the link produced a message saying that there were no posts associated with that tag which is soooo not true) two minutes ago http://wordpress.com/tag/vashon-homes-for-sale/ then, after logging into wordpress to go to this forum, the links suddently work. Could this be a function of my being logged in to WP? I don’t see how….!

Yes, that’s a DIFFERENT bug. Report it to staff with all details via your Dashboard Support button.

Yes, I just tested my theory, logged into wordpress account then suddenly the links functioned again on all accounts. I will report that as you suggest. Thanks.
