Google Translate Widget
-
Hi,
Is it possible to edit the css in Google Translate Widget?
I only need to edit the opened box. Is it possible to edit the blue language text color as well as hover color?
Also the opened box is cut off the smaller screens. Is there a way for this not to happen? Or even better is there a way to only display certain languages in the box?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, I’m not seeing the Google Translate widget on your site right now. Have you decided against using it?

Hi, and thanks. I’ve looked over the code that comes up for the translate widget and although I can find the relevant CSS, it is all included in a iframe from Google, and it is not something that we can override with custom CSS. Google is in total control of the colors.

Ok thanks
I have on things that can’t seem to remove. If you look at my website in the google translate widget you will notice a vertical line beside the text “select language” How can I remove this? It is the vertical line that is normally beside the dropdown arrow on the original css. The new dropdown arrow with the vertical line on the right side is just an image I have added. Having trouble trying to hide that original vertical line. Any ideas? Thanks

Wow, I was able to get rid of that. Didn’t think I would be able to.
Add the following to your custom CSS.
.goog-te-gadget-simple .goog-te-menu-value span { border: none !important; } -

Hi, I am having the same problem as lacuisinehealthy with the Google Translate widget, but I don’t see a possible solution in this thread. The drop-down box is fixed width and not scroll-able, so on smaller screens, like phones and small tablets, the language selections are not all visible, and there is no way to get to them. Can this be fixed by me, WordPress, or does it have to go back to Google? Thanks!

Hi @ld18democrats, I’m not seeing the google translate widget on your site. Can you add the widget so that I can test it on your site?

Thanks a lot, @ld18democrats. I’m currently doing some testing to determine if it is a widget issue or an issue with the theme you are using. I’ll get back to you in just a bit.

@ld18democrats, after looking things over, and getting some input from one of our developers, the issue is with the code that comes from Google, which has a fixed width. We have a discussion going on on this issue, and hopefully will find a solution soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Fantastic, thanks! One other thing, in case you talk to Google. After you choose a language, at the top of the page is another dropdown to choose a different language, and that is also the same fixed width frame. Just so Google knows and doesn’t fix one and ignore the other. Thanks again, I hope you find a solution because it is a really good translation widget.
