Google Verification of site
-
Am trying to verify my site with google. Following WordPress instructions to change DNS records, I have tried to cut and paste TXT record to my DNS but I can’t find DNS records for my site. What is simplest way to verify my site so it can be found on google?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Do you mean you’d like to verify the site with Google Search Console?
The easiest way to do that is by adding a meta tag to the header.
This can be done in Settings > Traffic.
For full details, please see:

If that is not what you mean, please let me know, and post a link to the instructions you’re referring to.

Hello @lizadimbleby,
You can use the Site Verification Services in your WordPress.com account. If you are working on lizadimbleby.wordpress.com, you can click here.
The Site Verification Services section is at the bottom.
Alternatively, you can click “Settings” from the left menu. Then go to “Traffic” tab.
You can find more information from this link.

I’m sorry, @garysixtyeight, didn’t mean to duplicate your response. I think I was typing same time as you were. :D

Thank you both of you! I tried html upload, DNS records but finally managed by tag method just as you were typing! Got there in the end….the google verification html did upload to my site weirdly but didn’t seem to connect to anything. Should I delete it now I am tag verified or might this de-verify me?
Thanks for your advice. I’m a novice

You’re welcome :)
If you verified the site using the tag method you should be able to delete/undo any of the other stuff you tried.
staff-imahappyengineer – no worries, it happens :)
