Google Webmaster Tools: Verification
-
-
Hi. Trying to install the Webmaster verification meta tag on my site http://www.increasefertilitytips.com as per the instructions in this thread.
In MY Tools page, I only have two options:
Turbo speed up WP
and
Press this
NO option for Webmaster Verifications Tools.
I already have Google Analytics installed and working on my site … anything I can do to kick start Webmaster…?
Help and advice very much appreciated.

jadewood, your blog is not hosted here at WordPress.com, so the discussion in these forums may not be relevant to your issues.

Wow! Quick reply Andrew – thanks!
Just to clarify then to save myself time now and in the future …
Based on your reply, this is NOT a general forum for WordPress blog owners UNLESS my blog is hosted with you guys? Is that right…?
In which case, you cannot help me …?
If so – my bad! I thought this was an open forum and support.
A 2nd ‘if so’, could you point me in the direction of where I COULD find a solution to my particular problem.
Thanks!
And Merry Christmas!!

Sorry guys, maybe I’m being really dumb here (I’ve just set up my first blog in the last week, so I AM very green…), but my site is not a wordpress.ORG blog.
From this very page I can go to my account and dashboard which shows my wordpress.COM API key.
What am I failing to understand here …?
Not trying to be difficult … just … one confused lady at the moment, trying to discern a difference a wee bit beyond this fluff head’s comprehension!
Thanks again.

The blog linked to your username is this one http://www.increasefertilitytips.com/ and it does not appear to be a wordpress.COM blog. It appears to be a wordpress.ORG blog.
The two are very different. The verification process in our support documentation applies ONLY to wordpress.COM bloggers.
The differences:

when you say: Google Webmaster Tools: Verification
do you mean the domain verification thats purchased from WP or just webmaster tools

@timethief per your suggtio on my earlier post about email i did as followed:
went to http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-email/
signed up via http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html
at setup (not sure if i clicked
Get started Or, sign up for
Google Apps Premier Edition )got the email verifications in regards to step 1 and step 2
was unable to get the site ownership verified and now i`m got the email yesteday stating
Google Apps: 7 days left to verify domain ownership
i`m confused on are webmaster tools and gogle apps the same or different

Hi
I’ve read this thread right through.
I believe I have a wordpress.com blog at
I have read the wordpress google WM tools instructions, but on the Tools page, all I see is Gears and Press This – there are no fields or options on my screen for posting the Google meta tags (I am quite familiar with the Google/Yahoo/Alexa meta tags process).
Where next?
Your advice appreciated, thanks
Phil

Sorry guys, scrub my last post, I am hosted elsewhere so query not relevant on this forum.
Regards

My blog is thesmatter.wordpress.com, and I can’t get any of the three search engines to verify successfully by cutting and pasting the meta tag into webmaster tools. They all just say they can’t verify.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
