Google "Winner" Popup Ad

  I went to view my blog today and found it effectively blocked by a popup ad claiming I won something from Google. It’s clearly illegitimate as these things are, but I don’t want it associated with or blocking people from viewing my blog! Is there a fix for this?

  Hi there,

  In what browser and on what device did you view your site when seeing that ad? Can you please take a screen shot and upload it to your media library at My Site ->Media, as well as the link to the post where you saw it? Were there any other ads showing on the page?

  Do you still see these ads if you view your site using a completely different browser?

  We don’t show pop-up ads on WordPress.com. While it is possible that one of our advertisers are breaking the rules and have managed to slip past an ad like that, it is more likely that this is being caused by malware in your browser, or another app on your device in the case of a mobile phone/tablet.

  So please try running a malware scan using a program like Malwarebytes if this is on a computer, or if this is on mobile try force-quitting the browser app, then clear it’s cache in your device’s app settings and restart the device to see if that helps.
