You can disable AMP in your WordPress settings. Unfortunately we can’t control how the WordPress plugin that generates AMP Pages works.

I think they’re failing to understand the difference between WordPress.org and WordPress.com. I use the latter.

I turned this off: “Your WordPress.com site supports Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), a new Google-led initiative that dramatically improves loading speeds on phones and tablets” and I saved setting. Please tell me if that’s the right action I took. Thanks.

“Right” is kind of a subjective viewpoint.

AMP mobile webpages may make sites look like surfing the web on a feature phone at the beginning of the century, but if page loading time is important to you, you might consider turning it back on. In terms of search engines, the site with the fastest loading webpages wins.
