Google/Search Indexing?
-
Is there a place in WordPress to enter a description with key words, tags and whatnot to help your site be indexed under Google and other search engines more easily? I remember from aeons ago you could do it with HTML on your index page… if that’s the case can someone help me out? Thanks… Sorry if this is vague, captain morgan’s taken a toll

That’s what tags and categories do in your Posts.
But first, do you have a blog here on WordPress.COM? If so, please give us the link starting with http://

Keywords in the normal sense are not given much weight by search engines anymore, and in one recent article I read, only one (obscure) search engine supposedly still pays any attention to them at all.
As Jennifer says, use tags and/or categories on your posts, make sure they are appropriate for the subject of the post, and keep the total number below 12 total (example: 2 categories + 10 tags = 12, or 4 categories + 8 tags = 12). Anymore than 12 total and you run the risk of being considered a tag spammer and may be excluded from the wordpress.COM global tags pages.

yeah, I do have a WP site. anyone with half a brain can add my username to the wordpress.com subdomain, but I’d rather not advertise a serious work in progress/experiment, and make it seem like I think my WP has any validity.
Im using wordpress.com as an easy way to host an ad-free, fast, easily customizable gaming site… not for others but for myself. I’m against blogging ironically… conceptually, not actively… I even despise the word Blog. What happened to ‘journal’? ‘Blog’ is too Po-Mo for me and I’m only 21… multidisestablishmentarianism over here :)

Oh, and uh… I guess the answer to my original post is that there is no way to signify my site, only to post regularly with ‘tags intact’
Excuse the double-post, franky mah dear, I don’t give a damn!

/nod to tsp and jennifer
@ rakefx – Are you this rude and condescending in real life, or do you save it for boards where you can be annonymous?

I told you he was a multidisestablishmentarian, there is another word for that but it’s not in the dictionary
