Goran Theme- Blog Page
-
Hi,
I used the Goran theme for a website I am working on. I created several pages and everything works as it was supposed. Each page has a unique header picture. I then created a blog page for this website, updated the settings for this page to become the post page, and created a post. My problem is that no matter what I do –changing the featured picture on the blog post or on the blog page– the header picture stay the default setting ( i.e. red background with the blog title on top). Would you be able to help and let me know how I can customize the header page for the blog page?

Hi,
The website is http://arlingtonmadtg.org/ and the blog is http://arlingtonmadtg.org/blog/
Thanks for your help.

Hi. You’re welcome. : )
My problem is that no matter what I do –changing the featured picture on the blog post or on the blog page– the header picture stay the default setting ( i.e. red background with the blog title on top).
There are several different parts to this issue. I’ll try to each of the separately.
red background with the blog title on top
1. The red title area background and link color, and light grey margins are the default background/palette combination. These may be changed at Customize > Colors & Backgrounds > Background and Palette.
changing the featured picture on the…blog page
2. Since the static page http://arlingtonmadtg.org/blog/ is assigned as your posts page, it evidently won’t display the featured image uploaded to the page. This is what I found in my test. I thought that I could remedy this by adding a custom header to the site at Customize > Header. I added several different feature images, but in each case the image failed to display. I don’t know why. You might want to add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this thread to call for staff attention.
changing the featured picture on the blog post…
3. A featured image on an individual blog post will display beneath the post title. I was able to add a featured image to a single post in a test, and you should be able to add a featured image to the post http://arlingtonmadtg.org/2015/07/16/stem-for-girls/. However, a featured image added to the static page which displays your blog posts will have no effect on single posts.

2a. I find that for all static pages that I test, except the page assigned as the blog or posts page, a custom site header appears as a header to the page, with page title overlaying it, if no featured image is set. This is true regardless of the page template assigned. If a featured image is set for the page, then it displays instead of the custom site header.

Thanks for looking into it. I really want every page to have the same type of header ( i.e. a large featured image), so I added the “modlook” tag to bring more attention to this thread. Thanks so much for your help and looking into it! Really appreciate it.

Hi there,
The Goran theme is designed to show just that colored header area at the top of the blog page, like on the theme demo site:
https://gorandemo.wordpress.com/blog/
The blog page won’t display the site’s custom header image or a featured image set for that page — those only appear on other pages in the theme.
