Goran Theme Footer Widget Follow Me Buttons

  I recently launched a site with the Goran theme. In the theme’s sample shown on the WordPress website, they’ve displayed a footer widget that says “Follow Me” with social media buttons leading to Twitter, Pinterest, etc. But I cannot figure out how to create that footer widget on my page. I don’t see it as a widget option at all. I only see an option to include social media button link in the actual page footer, but I like the look of the “Follow Me” widget. I’m starting to feel like WordPress was falsely advertising what is doable with these themes.

  Have you checked the steps provided in the Social Icons section on the Goran theme’s support page?

  Hi chaitanyamsv, thanks very much for replying! I did indeed follow the instructions on the Goran theme’s support page. Following those instructions only allows me to create social icons in the very bottom footer menu, but not in the footer blocks with a widget, like what is displayed on the theme’s sample page. Any other insight?

  I can see that i need to create a cutom menu widget but the instructions here don’t actually tell you how to do it: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/custom-menu-widget/

  I’ve already created a custom menu, but how does that transfer over into making it into a custom widget?

  I just figured it out, yay! I had to select Custom Widget from Appearance>Widgets and then select the social menu I’d already created. Thanks again chaitanyamsv for initially responding. I’m sure I’ll have more questions in the future :)
