got a free blog page now how do I use/download features/themes?

i just signed up for the free wordpress blog and have a very smple page. I’d like to add features /themes and expand upon my page-desgin it. i’ve seen no instructions on how to download so that I can use the features.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To use other themes or add functionality to a wordpress blog, you will have to self-host a blog with a third-party hosting service such as GoDaddy or DreamHost or somewhere like that.
Figure about $10 to $25 per month average cost (including cost for a domain name), but that can go as high as $50 or $100 per month depending on your storage and bandwidth requirements.

Also remember that if you self-host, you will be responsible for all installations, upgrades, backups and troubleshooting. If something goes wrong you will have to figure it out and fix it.
