got to 10955 of 24269 posts imported from tumblr, now stalled 3-4 days

As the title says, the import got to about 5000 posts, hung there for a day and a half, jumped up to 24,269 posts imported and has now been hanging at that point for 3+ days. Last check in was on the 6th and the import started on the 4th. Not sure if it’s really and truly frozen this time, or if it’s still in the queue. My tumblr has not been disconnected.

It appears the Tumblr import on your site has now failed, so I’ve reset the importer so you can try again.
If it seems to take long, please be patient and don’t try cancelling the process yourself – we’re still experiencing a high volume of imports from Tumblr at the moment causing a backlog of pending imports in our system. The imports are being run in the order they are submitted, but it could be a few days before your new import is processed.
If some posts have already imported they will be skipped by the importer during your next attempt, so they should not be duplicated.
If you need any further help, please reply in this thread (rather than creating a new one).

I restarted my import on the 11th or 12th. It’s now the 16th and it’s up to 16,466 of 24,335, but hasn’t moved for at least a couple of days. I’ve been ill and not monitoring it closely but given how long it’s been going, i’m concerned it’s failed again. Can someone please let me know if i need to get it cancelled and try again or if it’s still going?

I’m afraid the import has failed again. Does your Tumblr site contain any draft or private posts? Or are they all published and visible to the public?

yes, I have a few hundred draft posts, through years of having half finished posts + using it as a bookmark system. No privately published posts that I recall. Does this mean I’m going to have get rid of ~400 drafts? that could take a while. also, is it possible to restart the import again or is it not yet reset, and/or I should wait until the drafts are dealt with? thanks for your help!

There’s no need to delete any drafts but it’s possible one of those could have caused the import to hang. I’ve reset the importer and it would be great if you could try running it again.
Come back to me if you have any more trouble.

I’m not trying to upload any media attachments, all i’ve done is run the importer. From what I could tell, blog posts shouldn’t count as attachments, but apparently it’s still using up my storage? Do text and image post imports count as media attachments?

Every image that’s imported is a media attachment, yes. The posts themselves don’t count towards storage, but the images in them do as those images files are uploaded to your site’s media library when the posts where they’re added are imported.
Your new import is queued, so please be patient while waiting for it to run.
