Government traffic blocked on WordPress.com?

    Hi
I work for the South Australia Water (a department of the South Australian state govenment) and we are recently unable to access the wordpress.com website, where I have set up a blog for our Library. I can usually get to the site of my blog but whenever I try to access wordpress.com homepage
Our network support team is indicating our access is blocked at the wordpress end (not by our own systems). Our web traffic is sourced from ip addresses 203.26.122.12, 203.26.122.13, 203.26.122.14 and 203.26.122.15 and they indicate wordpress has blocked access to the wordpress.com from these ip addresses.
Could you please indicate why this may be the case and if this block can be removed.
    many thanks
    Hayley Morton

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve tagged this thread for staff attention, but I can think of absolutely no reason that wordpress would block traffic from there. WordPress has been blocked by a number of paranoid governments around the world, but wordpress has never blocked anyone from getting to and reading the sites here. It flies totally in the face of their support of freedom of speech and desire to give everyone the ability to publish on the internet.

Staff hopefully will be along shortly and look into this.

  • Please contact us via support@wordpress.com about this and send as much detail as you can.

If you are accessing it from work there may be a policy on sites that are seen as “time wasters”. Recently my access to these forums at work has been restricted to before 9:00, 12:00 to 1:00pm and after 5:00pm!

Thank you everyone. My IT people insist it is not a policy restriction at our end. I have forwarded the request to support @wordpress.com.
