GPS Tracking System For Website and App

    Hi I’m planning a website and app for a client and I’m considering using WordPress for both. Because the brand will be renting out scooters similar to a ride share company, I was wondering if WordPress offers a plugin whether at cost or for free that allows my clients to not only track the scooters but also helps to verify ID’s and manage their fleet.

    Hi there! WordPress as a free software has a repository over at WordPress.org where you can find plugins; a few plugins (for things like site maintenance/troubleshooting) are made by the WordPress.org community, but the vast majority of plugins are made by third parties who are responsible for the maintenance/updates and support for the plugins they create. The plugins listed at WordPress.org are typically free, though many plugin designers do offer a paid version of their product which includes additional functionality.

    As it is, I’m not sure if there’s any one plugin which does what you’re looking for – given the nature of the business, it sounds like your client would need a WordPress plugin which integrates with their existing system for tracking the scooters (if they have one). If they don’t have an existing system, it’s likely that they’d need to get a custom-coded solution for that, whether or not they then integrate it with WordPress or any other website system. Is this something you would be doing for your client?

    I had a quick look and I found one plugin which looks like it could be used for linking in with an existing system to add GPS functions to the site itself:

    There is also the WooCommerce plugin (which is free to use) and a paid Bookings extension for it which could potentially be used for the ‘scooter rental’ side of the business:
