    Does WordPress allow me to upload SVG files to build into my site? Or what file types are accepted? And what file types are best for various types of graphic content?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there,

    I think with the open source WordPress software it might be possible to upload SVG files, but we don’t allow them on WordPress.com for security reasons – SVG files can also be used to inject malicious content into a site, and as WordPress.com is a shared hosting environment, malware on one site can affect multiple other sites.

    For images we support .jpg/.jpeg, .png and .gif.

    The coming v 5.8 of the open source WordPress software will also add support for .webp images, which means support for that will most likely be added to WordPress.com as well, though I can’t give you an ETA on that.
