Graphs

I need to help in posting pictures to my posts. I want to be able to copy for example an excel graph and post it in line with the text. How do you suggest I do that?

  • Howdy,

Excel, as far as I’m aware, doesn’t have a one-step way to export a chart as an image, so there are a few steps.

First, I’d follow the instructions on this page regarding “Copy data from Excel as a picture” through Step 5: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/create-a-picture-from-cells-a-chart-or-an-object-HP010254122.aspx

Once the chart is copied as a picture, I would open the built-in Paint program in Windows. Typically, it is found in the Start Menu under Accessories or you can go to Start->Run… (Windows 7 or below) and type “mspaint” without quotes and press enter.

In Paint, then paste the image into the blank file, crop as needed, then save as either a JPEG or a PNG file.

Within WordPress, when editing a new post, click the “Add Media” button above the post editor and follow the prompts from there (more details with screenshots of adding pictures: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/ ).

For posting it in line with the text, you can choose the alignment that works best for you—left, right, or none (in-line). More about alignment can be found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/

Please let me know if you have additional questions or if there is anything else we can do for you!
