Gravatar
-
Hello,
I’ve added a gravatar image a few weeks ago, and I’ve checked it several times on different email inboxes, yet it just doesn’t show up. I have cleared my cache, I have checked the ratings, I have waited several days, and I cannot find any further help on https://en.gravatar.com/support/
Could anyone please tell me why this isn’t working?
Thanks,
NickI don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Tested it in several different email clients, eg Gmail, but all of the ones I tested have those circles next to the name of the sender.

Oh, I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know. Could you tell me how I access Gmail’s avatar system? And what email client should I test in to check if my Gravatar is working then?

Hi there,
I found this article that shows you how to change your Gmail profile picture (avatar):

For more help please reach out to Google.

Thank you! The thing is, my email is not a Gmail. It’s the email I use for my website, nickclausenbooks.com

Hello there,
Ok, so you may need to check if there’s any Gravatar in place with their service.
To change the Gravatar for the site nickclausenbooks.com, as it’s a self-hosted WordPress site, you would go to: nickclausenbooks.com/wp-admin > users > click on a profile > edit and you should be able to change the profile image.
I hope this helps.

Thank you, I have already contacted my host and they are looking into it. My website is not a WordPress site, but I’m not too concerned with adding the avatar to my website; I just want to make sure that the subscribers on my mailinglist can see the avatar in their inbox. And since they use a wide variety of different email clients, I want to make sure to cover as many of them as I can. I already set up my avatar with Gravatar.com, now I just need to cover those email clients which aren’t covered by Gravatar, like Gmail and Yahoo. Do you know how I do that?

These services have their own profile settings.
Please see these guides here:

Thank you, but I think I’m putting my question wrong. Let me clarify.
I have a newsletter. I send emails out to many people. I use my own email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) hosted at nordicway.dk. My subscribers use a lot of different email clients (Gmail, Yahoo, Apple, AOL, Outlook etc). I want to make sure that whatever client they use to receive my email in, they see my avatar (provided that the particular client supports avatars, of course).
I believe that Gravatar covers some email clients, right? But Gmail and Yahoo, for instance, aren’t covered by Gravatar. Which means I’ll need to go about ensuring that Gmail users and Yahoo users also see my avatar in some other way.
So this is what I’m asking. How do I make my avatar appear in my recipients’ inboxes if they use Gmail, Yahoo or some other client?

Hello there,
Many thanks for that clarification.
So this is what I’m asking. How do I make my avatar appear in my recipients’ inboxes if they use Gmail, Yahoo or some other client?
So long as the email host has the ability to add an avatar, and the recipient has the ability to see it, then this would be possible.
You would need to reach out to nordicway.dk to make sure that’s the case.
I hope this helps.
