  I updated my gravatar and deleted the original one. Yet the old one keeps appearing when I make comments. When I ‘like’ something, my new gravatar appears. What’s going on? I’d like to get rid of the original once and for all. I’ve looked under Users and Profile and whatever else I can think of and deleted the old wherever I see it. And it’s still showing up.

  Gravatar site common questions and answers to them:

  We cache your gravatars for periods of time, which means that your new gravatar will take effect after the old one expires from the cache. The reason we do this is to be able to serve your (and indeed everybody’s) gravatar images much more quickly and reliably. http://en.gravatar.com/site/faq/#answer-1-2

  I am also having this problem. I changed my gravatar over 16 hours ago, and it’s still showing up as the old one.

  Interestingly it’s not doing this for all circumstances. The url parameters change what gravatar I see, not just their values, but their order in the url. E.g.

  The top one shows the old gravatar, the bottom one shows what should be the current gravatar.

  This problem is still affecting me. Why does one link show the right gravatar and another, semantically identical one, show an incorrect one?

  I’ve cleared my cache, rebooted, deleted all temporary internet file and logged in and out of gravatar, all several times.

  I have just deleted the old avatar and that has solved the issue for me.

  I shouldn’t have to delete the avatar, though.

  Yes, you’ve always had to delete your avatar at Gravatar when uploading a new one.

  I have not. I have been able to transition from old avatars to new ones without deleting the old ones. I know this because my old avatars are still in my account. It is only this recent switch that has caused the problem.

  I can’t get my avatar to show up on my blog page unless I hover over that pixelated block thing. Yes, I’ve cleared my cache and have waited. It’s frustrating.
