Gravatar
-
Hi,
My gravatar picture is the wrong one when an email is sent. I know it takes a while to cache but it’s been months so that isn’t it. I uploaded a new one yesterday but it’s still showing a foreign one to me with a random word. I contacted Aweber and they said it’s not anything on their end. Bluehost said the same thing.
Please help, thanks -
Hi there!
Gravatars are tied to a specific email address and the one tied to the email address associated with your WordPress.com account is the “Reach Fuel Potential” image that I’m seeing as your Gravatar here on the forums.
I don’t see any other email addresses configured under your account, so if you have a second email you want to set a different Gravatar for, you would need to log into your Gravatar account and follow these steps to add another email:
If you still have trouble, let us know.

That is the email I am talking about. I only have one. What you mentioned, the “Reach Fuel Potential” image is what should be showing up but it is not. Instead, a random picture is showing up in people’s inboxes as my gravatar that I have never seen before. How do we fix this?

Hm, let’s go back to “when an email is sent” which email are you referring to?
Would you please use https://snipboard.io to provide a screenshot?

What email app are you using? Some email apps have Gravatar integrations, but most don’t.

No, what is the app you’re currently using for email, the one you had open when you took the screenshot?
Email providers don’t _send_ Gravatars, it’s up to the receiving app to fetch the Gravatar, and first that app has to support Gravatars.
For example, the Sparrow email app https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparrow_(email_client) supported Gravatar. When the app received an email, it would check to see if a Gravatar was attached to the sending email address, then display that Gravatar in the inbox.
Sparrow was then acquired by Google, and though many features made their way into the Gmail app, Gravatar support did not. The Gmail app only supports displaying Google avatars set in your Google profile.
Gravatar display is up to the app _receiving_ the email, not what sends the email.

Oh, this is the yahoo app. All of the other emails in here have their logos displayed properly except for mine.
-
Hm, the Yahoo app does not support Gravatar. They may be taking their avatars from another source, like Yahoo’s profile avatars (most likely), Twitter, or Facebook.

No, there’s no way for emails to send avatars, that’s just not how email works.
It’s up to the receiving email app to fetch avatars for the sending email address using the avatar sources they support, and the Yahoo email app does not support Gravatar.
