Gravatar

My WordPress Gravatar is showing up on sites where I use my email. For example when I sign in to an outside site with my Twitter account (especially if the site is run by Disqus). I went to contact Gravatar for support but their site says their help forms are closed and to post on the WP forums instead. I need my WordPress blog, profile and anything else associated to not pop up on other sites. How do I correct this without deleting my account?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

And by the way whenever I post a question on these forums I get a surge in traffic referrers from the forum question, multiple countries and TONS of spam. This is another thing I do not especially like about the privacy controls here.

    Gravatar.com:

Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site?

Each WordPress.com account you have is linked to a single public profile. You can set up different Gravatar images for different email addresses within the same account, but they will all still link to the same public profile. That profile will use your username (ameliespp).

If you change your username, it will change your WordPress.com username for your entire account.

If you’d like to create completely separate public profiles for your Gravatars, you will need to create separate WordPress.com accounts. You can create a new WordPress.com account by logging out of your current account and going to this link:

    https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1

Once you have the new account set up, you can transfer your new blog to that account by following this guide:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

You can then set up a Gravatar and public profile for that account that will be completely separate from your other profile. Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

Regarding the traffic spike – well, that’s one of the side effects of the popularity of WordPress. But, you don’t have to worry about that. Let Akismet deal with it. :)

@niketraja Sorry I made a mistake. I completely forgot I meant to delete my accompanying “Barberry” account on Twitter, but it does not let you deactivate on the iPad. I had asked Twitter to link to Disqus on another site but somehow it grabbed a very old and deleted account yet used the avatar for this site (which was also Twitter).

The reason I complained is because I only offered this one site my email address, so hypothetically it had grabbed my Gravatar based only on my email address. My mistake though.

I’m now trying to delete both my Disqus and Twitter account for obvious reasons. Too many strands in the web! :)
