I just changed my email address in my profile which I successfully updated, I want to use the same gravatar that accompanied my comments, but when I look at my posts containing my comments it has reverted to a generic image.
Is that because I changed email addresses? Will the gravatar which I chose and applied show up in future comments?

Yes the gravatar image displayed is linked (and I don’t mean hyperlinked I mean is associated) with the email address you used at the time your registered it. Please read the first sentence in the support documentation entry to verify.
