  • Unknown's avatar

Changed Gravatar avatar. It shows up on my WP public profile but the image isn’t changing on my blog page. I have cleared my cache several times.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Gravatar support is here http://en.gravatar.com/support/
To contact Staff there use http://en.gravatar.com/support/contact-us/

Also note that your site is not hosted here by WordPress.COM and we cannot provide support for it. You are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.

    Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

So basically, your software and gravatar are not talking to each other, and YOUR software doesn’t provide me anyway to update an avatar from within YOUR software. This is sounding like a great plan. Thanks for the support, and I don’t begin to understand or care how your complex stuff is structured.

All I really care about is I am using wordpress software and having an issue with it and you have told me you can’t help because I am not paying you to host my site. This isn’t a hosting issue its a software issue.

    Hi there,
I guess you missed reading my first two sentences above.

    Gravatar support is here http://en.gravatar.com/support/
To contact Staff there use http://en.gravatar.com/support/contact-us/

Thank you for your help. I love how the Gravatar site tells me to ask my questions here and you tell me to ask them questions there. Great little set-up you’ll have to pass the blame back and forth

To be clear on this I am a Volunteer doing the best job I can answering questions and have done so for nearly 9 years now. As you seem to be unable to contact Gravatar Staff directly, I tagged this thread for WordPress.COM Support Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Don’t really care that you are a volunteer or not. That fact is irrelevant to the issue. For a major software company, I expect support when I have issues that is part of the product they are providing. It’s kind of sad that a major software company is using volunteers to provide their support.

I don’t come to forums to be directed to websites that don’t have answers to my questions. I had already been there and read all of their support before I posted here. I came here expecting help not just to be sent back to where I had been that was unhelpful.

But thank you for providing useless information.

I do care that you need help and I tried to provide it above right here in this per support forum for WordPress.COM user.

Your remarks fail to acknowledge the fact that any Volunteer here chooses exactly which threads to respond to and which threads to completely ignore. I suggest you read what follows and save any feedback you have for direction to those who make decisions rather than directing it to Volunteers like myself.

This thread is tagged for Staff and they have a backlog. What’s required is your patience as Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in chronological order based on datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.

How long it takes to clear the threads and support tickets depends on how many Happiness Engineers are working on them at any given point in time. It also depends on how complex the issues in each thread and ticket are are.

Please don’t bump your thread here by posting into it again because it’s not in your best interest to post to it after it has been tagged for Staff help. Doing that moves the timestamps forward and it takes longer to get a response.

    @Staff

To contact Staff there use http://en.gravatar.com/support/contact-us/

I used that drop down and and copied and pasted the thread title found above into it and I did find answers that may apply.

  • Unknown's avatar

I wish I had thought of that.

Oh wait, I did and followed all their hints and tips and none of that worked.

  • Unknown's avatar

Oh really? Ans, that is exactly what I assumed when I tagged this thread for WordPress.COM Support Staff assistance. After they sort your issue they will have the support doc referred to on the Gravatar site updated with information that addresses exactly what to do in situations like yours. Please be patient while waiting for a respônse.

Edit: Ans was meant to be And.

    Hi @jennifermelroy,

Just to clarify, you changed your Gravatar that shows up at the top of the page here (among other places):

    http://d.pr/i/1943r

Is that correct? Can you let me know if the correct image is appearing here?

    https://wordpress.com/me

Also, could you clarify what you mean by “blog page”? If possible, please send over a link to the specific page.
