Hello, I spent some quality time over on Gravatar trying to see if I could dig up the message you’re getting.

Are you having trouble in the Add a link section (the one you linked to) or is it actually in the verify a site section you get the error? Add a link just puts a link on your profile, and you can add any site you want without verification.

The Verify section is where it asks you for your WordPress login information if you tell it to verify a WordPress site. But, that is actually only used for self-hosted websites that use the software from the WordPres.org project. Here’s more info on the differences between that and this service, WordPress.com

You don’t need to verify WordPress.com sites because Gravatar and WordPress.com are already linked together and are completely integrated. Here’s more details on Gravatar: http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/gravatars/

susan, I am having the same problem. I add my wordpress.com link to the list of verified websites. So when people click my avatat, they can then click the wordpress.com and get my page. Yes, I can add my wordpress.com as a webpage at the bottom, but I see others have their wordpress.com listed as their verified account when I click their gravatar. I asked the user and they said they had no idea how they did it? Anyway, If people click my gravatar, I would think that it would take them directly to my site. I guess I am asking too much i dunno.
