Gravatar Glitch That Will Not Let You Remove Websites?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I would like to report a possible glitch at the Gravatar website that I have noticed the last two days if you go to Edit My Profile | Websites | click the X on a Link/Website to Remove the Link/Website it disappears like it is supposed to but when you view your profile or refresh the page the Link/Website is not gone.

I have tested this glitch on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS 64-Bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit on Mozilla Firefox 26 and Google Chrome (latest version), I keep removing several websites (I even tested removing all of them), but they are always still there even after refreshing/waiting/exiting the browsers/restarting the computer/et cetera.

I use Permanent Private Mode in Firefox on both operating systems and I have CCleaner set to automatically clear things on the Windows partition every time I log-in to Windows, and I have both operating systems up-to-date and both browsers up-to-date; and I have never had this problem until the last two days.

I was/am trying to remove my custom links for my YouTube Channel and my Google+ Profile.

    Thank you,
    -John Jr

Thanks for letting us know. This issue has been reported to our developers.

You are welcome, and thank you very much Jackiedana. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

You’re welcome. I hope we can get this resolved soon for you.

To add info to this, I had the same problem. The links would not delete through Gravatar, but when I deleted them through my profile on the Users tab of my Dashboad, they were removed.

Thank you for sharing that Littlebrownettebird, now I know for sure that this effects/affects more people than just me, and I forgot that you could add/remove things from your profile there as well so thank you for sharing that tip for those who want to use that option until this is fixed. :)

Also I would like to say thank you again to Jackiedana, and I am confident that they will fix this issue soon; and I hope that they will fix some other glitches that I have reported this year and last year that are still not fixed.

I’m excited someone else found a working solution (thanks, @littlebrownettebird!). I’ve updated our developers, who hopefully will have a fix for the Gravatar side of things soon.

Glad to be able to be of help! I’m too non-techie to be very often.

  • Unknown's avatar

@littlebrownettebird, you’d be surprised at how often non-technical advice is useful around here. Never be shy to lend a hand! :)

I agree, I think that there are things that almost every can contribute that others might have missed/not noticed/not known(?)/et cetera, and it is nice when more people share their helpful ideas and when we work together to solve problems. :)

  • Unknown's avatar

Exactly. The more people post helpful tips, workarounds, suggestions and ideas, the better the WordPress.com experience is for everyone. While the staff do know a lot of things, we never claim to know it all. :)

Jackiedana, do you know if the Site Stats on the Dashboard will ever get updated with new features like/to match the Stats on the WordPress.com Toolbar/whatever and will the Reader ever be added to the Dashboard as well, because I prefer using the Dashboard for almost everything on WordPress.com?

  • Unknown's avatar

We are always working on enhancements to WordPress.com, and while I’m not sure if any of your ideas are on our developers’ roadmaps right now, we do appreciate feedback. Feel free to post a new thread in our Ideas forum with an explanation for why each idea would help you out or improve your WordPress.com experience: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas
