Gravatar image profile for emails

My gravatar profile image won’t show up when I send emails.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • Hi there!

I don’t see any sites under your account, so I guess you are not referring to the automatic emails sent to your subscribers when you publish a new post, is that right? Could you tell us some more details?

    Hello,

When I send an email from (email visible only to moderators and staff) to a yahoo email address, the receiver does not see my profile picture, he just sees 2 letters MC, in a photo that looks like some auto generated card that changes.

I uploaded my gravatar picture a week ago, please let me know if something went wrong or I just have to wait a little bit more.

    Thank you very much,

    Regards,

    Cristina

  • Hi Cristina,

Whether or not a Gravatar image shows for your email, or even whether any image at all appears, depends on both your email provider (whether or not your email provider uses profile pictures, and specifically Gravatar), as well as the email provider the recipient of your email is using (whether or not they display profile pictures, and if so, if they pull those from Gravatar, from your email provider, or only show it if you have an account with them yourself.)

The specific person receiving your emails might also have the option to change a setting in their account at their email provider to prevent profile pictures from appearing on emails.

So from our/Gravatar’s end we don’t have any control over it. We make the image associated with your email address available for anyone to use, but it’s up to each individual email provider whether or not to integrate with Gravatar and use that image.

Let us know if you have any more questions about this.
