Gravatar Img Blurred in blog comments
-
Hello
When anyone posts in the comments of our blog, the gravatar image is blurred.
https://www.absolutept.com/low-back-pain-hip-strength-and-it-band-tightness/
It’s not blurred when it’s in the blog author box.
The code is:
<img alt=”” src=”https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/93991a81ec2fba104e8d753717dc6fd5?s=32&d=identicon&r=G” class=”avatar avatar-32 photo” height=”32″ width=”32″>and when we mouse over the code it says:
78×78 pixels (natural 32×32 pixels)
Since these images are pulling from Gravatar, how to I get them to remain in focus? Change the code in the theme? Upload a bigger image on Gravatar?
However, even the default Gravatar images are distorted/blurred.
Thanks for the help

We provide support here only for WordPress.COM hosted blogs. Your site is not hosted by wordpress.COM and you are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
Seer also http://en.gravatar.com/support/ -
ok – I’ll post there.
The reason I posted here is that I went to Gravatar.com (part of Automatic/Wordpress.com right? ) since the image is being pulled from there and selected support, it sent me here because Gravatar support is closed.

Hi Alan,
I see what you mean that comment is loading the 32 px image and scaling it up – making it blurry.
My initial thought is that either your theme or another plugin is interfering with Jetpack comments and requesting it to be 32 px. Because your site’s stylesheet is turning into 78px after the 32 px image is requested:
If you preview your site using the Twenty Fifteen theme, do the gravatars do the same thing?

I’ll test out the Twenty Fifteen theme tonight and let you know — thanks for the replies

Must be in the theme – I checked out Twenty Fifteen and the avatars are clear — guess I’ll have to do a code fix in the spreadsheet. I put in a ticket to the theme creators also.

I put in some custom CSS code to overwrite the theme CSS and my avatars are now clear but much smaller.
I’m going through the Jetpack CSS files to see if I can find the CSS that sets the avatars at 32×32 but I’m having trouble finding that code
I’d like to make the Jetpack code read 78×78 so that my avatars can be large and sharp – any ideas on where that code is in the Jetpack CSS
Tried using inspect element in Chrome but I’m not sure how to read it so that I’ll see exactly which Jetpack/Gravatar CSS file the 32×32 command is coming from.
Thanks for the help.

My guess would be that somewhere in your theme’s
comments.phpfile it’s calling for a specific gravatar resolution of 32×32 pixels. But since it’s a paid theme, I can’t easily search for this. But when gravatar is called without a size parameter, it comes in as 80x80px and lets your CSS do the rest:
https://en.gravatar.com/site/implement/images/
And that’s what I’d expect from Jetpack comments without the theme specifying a size.
If you can’t immediately see it in your theme’s comments.php file, I think bringing it up in your request with them might be the fastest place to find an answer.
