Gravatar link closes tab/window that opens it

    I’m implementing Gravatar on a project outside of WordPress. The site has a profile section where I have placed a link to gravatar for them to change their avatar. This opens in a new window but when a user changes their gravatar it causes the parent window/tab (my site) to close.

    Is there a way to stop this or another means for a user to be linked to gravatar to update their picture?
