Gravatar pic doesn't show up on website

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I have an author bio box at the bottom of each blog post on my website. As directed, I added a picture through Gravatar (which has been done, the picture shows up on my gravatar account), however it won’t show up in the author bio box? Can anyone say what I could be doing wrong?
    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @shanaraho,
I looked into your site and checked out the profile section below your blog posts and it seems like your Gravatar profile is not properly linked to your WordPress account, because when i click on the profile image it take me to a Gravatar page where it says “We’re sorry, we couldn’t find that profile.

Are you seeing the same problem too?

I yes, then please link your Gravatar profile correctly. Read the instructions below to do so:
    1. Login to your Gravatar account and edit your Gravatar profile to make sure the email address is same as the email address of your WordPress.com account. Or you can just login using your WordPress.com account itself.
    2. Remember, it may take upto few hours to reflect your changes. You may try to clear browser’s cache if you wish to see the changes immediately.
    3. Make sure that the Gravatar is rated G and not anything higher (not PG, R, or X). You can check out your rating by logging into your gravatar account and then clicking on the View Rating link.

Read the support page of Gravatar if you are looking for more info:
    http://en.gravatar.com/support/

Read the WordPress support doc for Gravatar here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/gravatars/

Let me know if this helps :)

Hi! Thanks for your response. I just tried to click on my gravatar and saw the same thing you mentioned. I went into the profile and it has the same email address as my wordpress. My wordpress website is also linked to it under the websites tab. I’m not sure if I’ve missed something else? Thanks!

Okay, then maybe someone from the WordPress staff might be able to help you with this. As they might have a proper understanding of some backend issues if there’s one.

So, i am tagging this question with the modlook tag so that it gets the staff attention. If you wish to reach the moderator staff directly for your future questions, just use the add modlook tag.

Read about the modlook tag here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Is this for the site, http://thebalancedlifedietitian.com/? That site is not on our servers, but is a self-hosted WordPress site connected to us via the Jetpack plugin. We have no access to that site and no control over how it treats your Gravatar images.

The most likely cause for this issue is a problem with your site’s cache, and you’ll most likely need your hosting provider’s help to fix it. You can also try asking in the self-hosted forums where users will have more experience with this kind of issue:

it seems like your Gravatar profile is not properly linked to your WordPress account

A Gravatar account and a WordPress.com account is one and the same thing. There’s no way to unlink the two, so also no way they can’t be “properly linked”.

@kokkieh thanks for the info :)

    Hi kokkieh,

Thanks for your answer, I will have a look at what you said. It’s weird because I have someone else set up as a co-author on the website, and their gravatar pic shows up fine. Not sure what the problem is with mine! Thanks :)

Thanks you both of your help, I just fixed it. The email address that was listed under my profile at wordpress didn’t match the one on the gravatar account. I changed it, and now everything works. Thanks again!

  • I’m happy to hear this is all fixed up now :) I’ll close this thread. Remember that we are always close by if you run in to any other trouble!
