Gravatar Profile Pix

    Hi
    It has came to my attention that my work/professional wordpress sites run by my companies use the same gravatar that I had on my personal/private site. I have turned off my gravatar to ensure it will not show up publicly elsewhere but it still does. Anything I can do to not let that happen again?

    Hi Lydia,

    Your Gravatar picture is tied to your email address, so on any WordPress site or other service that has Gravatars enabled, if you use the same email, it will use the same image. That’s why Gravatar lets you create multiple identities, i.e. you can upload different profile pictures for different emails, so you can present yourself differently depending on the context.

    What Gravatar have you turned off? For what email address? I checked your account and you current still have two active Gravatar identities under this account.

    As soon as you delete/disable a Gravatar image or identity from your account, we stop serving that Gravatar image. But most websites cache your Gravatar. In other words, the first time you register your account it fetches your Gravatar from our server, but then store it directly on the site, and only checks back with us for changes periodically.

    If the Gravatar you disabled is still visible elsewhere, that’s most likely what’s going on. In that case, you’ll have to contact the site where the Gravatar is appearing directly so they can update the cache on their end.

    Thanks for the response. I can see that the display picture is back on. However are there any way to change the display pic on another website?

    Because the display picture i have on marliseingorle.wordpress.com is the same one I had on https://forklift4s.com.my/

    I wanted both to have different display pictures because one is for work and the other is for personal. How do I change this?

    If you use the same email address for both sites it is not possible. You would need to add a new email address to your Gravatar account to use for business purposes. Then you can set a new Gravatar for that address and update your user profile on the forklift site to also use that new email address. That should take care of that for you.

    Oh the profile pix on the forklift site is gone. It’s ok I just don’t want it to mix. Thanks all for the help :)
