Gravatar Will Not Verify Services
-
I’ve been trying to add/link a few services through Gravatar.com and Its not accepting them.
Basically trying to Verify Services, and blogger.com and google+ has been accepted, but wordpress and yotube will not be accepted.
When I try to add wordpress, it tells me ‘ No blogs found
Either your WordPress blog is not responding, or it’s not listing any blogs against the account details you entered. Please check that the username/password you entered are for an account which is associated with at least one blog.’
When I try to add youtube, it goes to Authorize access to Youtube, I go to my channel page, press Accept and I get ‘ Failed to verify account
We were unable to verify your account. Please try again, and make sure you grant Gravatar access.
Go back and try again.’
Gravatar is accepted in my google security settings, so this makes no sense.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
I’m quoting an answer from a WordPress staff here:
It’s no longer possible to add WordPress.com sites as verified services to Gravatar. The place to add them is to your websites. Here’s a direct link to that page.
I hope this helps.

If a WP staff happens to read this thread, I’d like to ask:
Is there a reason why the references/links to Verified Services aren’t removed on the Gravatar website? I mean, like this link https://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit#verified-services.It’s odd that Verified Services is no longer usable, yet remains available. It makes for quite a few confused users too.
Cheers.

Hi there,
Are you trying to add a self-hosted WordPress blog or a WordPress.com blog? As guaiava mentioned, you can add WordPress.com blogs in the Websites section of your Gravatar profile.
I reported the YouTube issue to our team for further investigation. I don’t have a timeline for when our developers will be able to look into that error message, but I’ll let you know when I get an update about it.
Is there a reason why the references/links to Verified Services aren’t removed on the Gravatar website? I mean, like this link https://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit#verified-services.
Verified Services are still part of Gravatar profiles. WordPress.com sites are best added to the Websites section, but you’re welcome to connect other services there. If you have trouble with any other services there, please let me know!

@rachelmcr
I think I may be confused… what you’re saying seems to contradict the “It’s no longer possible to add WordPress.com sites as verified services to Gravatar.” from what I quoted above.
It feels like I am missing something obvious, care to shed some light? :) -
The Verified Services section in Gravatar includes a variety of services, like self-hosted WordPress sites, Facebook, etc. Gravatar still supports adding those other services as verified services on your profile, just not WordPress.com sites.

Hi everyone,
I am checking in with our team again about this issue with adding YouTube as a verified service, to see if we can resolve that for all of you. I don’t have any more details about it right now, but I’ll let you know as soon as I know more. :)
-
@rachelmcr, how about checking with the team to make WP be a verifiable site on gravatar again?
I mean, it only advertises WordPress!, as well as harmonize with the other verifiable services, since the gravatar is on WP, it’s illogical to have removed that feature.
-
Hi gurugenie, self-hosted WordPress sites can still be added through the Verified Services section. To add WordPress.com sites to your Gravatar profile, you can go to the Websites section and add them there. (This will also highlight the sites in your profile underneath your Gravatar image.)
-
No, I don’t like that whatsoever, I’ve added my site underneath my profile image, it’s not even sort of the sane as having it under the verified services because it doesn’t show the amount of followers and it also does not make it clear that the site is verified, for instance, some people add sites that I know are not theirs, like what really happened, Mike Rivero owns that site.
I tried adding Press TV, to see if any site can be added, and sure enough it shows up as a sit that I supposedly own!
Restore the verified services for WP .com option. Period.

Hi everyone,
Our team launched a fix for YouTube as a verified service, so this will work for most YouTube accounts again. If you continue to have trouble adding YouTube as a verified service on your Gravatar profile, please let me know!
@gurugenie — I understand your frustration. There currently aren’t plans to change how verified services work for WordPress, but if that changes I’ll let you know.
-
@rachelmcr — Tell the top brass at WP that they ought to fire the person who removed that feature and hire me!
Geez, the time I’ve spent giving money-making suggestions to WP that they mostly have not applied, I always get told, “excellent idea”, however, they don’t have the authority to do anything about getting my ideas expecuted into action.I’m just kidding, way too busy to take on more work, it’s my way of saying this is absurd and a waste of my time.

I Jumped through the hoops and the url link for Youtube on the Hover card is incorrect:( Channel Does Not Exist )
http://www.youtube.com/user/FSEy4gkCJO1R2OWMxE0OHA
It should be this:
http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFSEy4gkCJO1R2OWMxE0OHA
Can you help cheers TwoCentsBob….

Also what is ‘Offline Access’? Is it ok to say yes or could it be both a privacy issue and a security issue. My real username for WP.org is hidden and in….. no way…. do I want it displayed.
Cheers TwoCentsBob………..
