Gravatars

I’m having trouble updating my gravatar. When this happened before, it was discovered that one gravatar was still connected with an old email address I don’t have access to and isn’t even on my account anymore.

Anyway, the gravatar I see when I enter the system to update it has never matched the one that’s used as a thumbnail on my WordPress page. I’ve just updated my gravatar again and it’s still not updating on my page. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi there, I’m not seeing a gravatar on your site. Is the correct gravatar showing up here in this forum? I’m seeing what looks to be a headshot image as the site image (blavatar) that appears on my browser tab. I’m seeing that same headshort image set on your site at Customize > Site Identity.

Browsers have been known to hang onto site images and gravatars pretty tenaciously in their caches.

I would suggest you log out of WordPress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then again clear the cache and cookies and then visit your site and see if things have corrected.

I would also suggest checking from a different browser to see if it is related to just the one browser.

Hi, thanks for the help, thesacredpath. I’ve tried logging out, clearing my cache and browsing history and also trying another browser and nothing seems to work.

The image I’m seeing on the forum here (blue background, with writing) is the one I’m trying to implement as my thumbnail when I link to the site. This appears successfully at the top right of my screen just next to the notification bell thingie.

However, at the top left of my screen, just under ‘My Site’, the old picture persists (a head and shoulder shot with a white background). This is what comes up for everyone when I link to the page.

  • Hello!

It seems you might be trying to update your Site Icon. That is what shows across WordPress.com, in your visitor’s browser tab, in widgets like Blogs I Follow, and as a bookmark or home screen app icon when saved to a browser or phone.

You can change this icon by going to My Site → Settings, and in the General tab.

Here is some more information you may find helpful: https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-icons/

Thanks. That’s brilliant. Worked a treat. Didn’t realise the site icon was different from the gravatar.
