  What is it and how do I get rid of it, should I do something with it????

  That’s your Gravatar. You can see it on the left here. Go to Customize Theme Options and remove your email address from the Header Gravatar box and it will disappear from the front of your site.

  I don’t think it is very useful on the front of sites personally. You have been given a generic one. You can edit it and add your own image which is a useful thing for commenting (you can see mine here).
