Green dot w/ plus sign

  I have noticed an odd green dot with a white plus sign in it which appears in the search bar of my browser when I log into my blog. I have searched the forums here and have found nothing, but can anyone tell me what this could be? I have a screenshot, but is there a way to upload it to the forums, or do I need to post it and then link to it?

  Hi there,

  What browser are you using? Have you tried using other browsers and logging into your blog? Does the green dot with a white plus sign appear in all of the browsers?

  I only see it using FF, only on that tab, only on that blog, and only after I have logged-in.

  Notice that the dot covers the magnifying glass; but when I mouse-over, the dot doesn’t change, the search text under it does.

  That is a feature of Firefox search. All WordPress.com blogs have their own search tool enabled, and Firefox detects it as a search engine. If you click on that plus sign it gives you the option to add WordPress.com search as one of the search engines you can use in Firefox. You should also see it on any other site you visit that has it’s own internal search function or on a search engine that’s not integrated into Firefox. It’s nothing to worry about and you can really just ignore it.

  If you can perhaps remove the modlook tab again, as this is not something staff can do anything about.

  Thanks for the info kokkieh. However, as I’ve said, I only see it on Wordpess. FF is not my primary browser, though, so no big deal either way. I will, as you have suggested, just ignore it.

  As I said, you’ll only see it on sites that have their own internal search engine, and not all of them either. For example, I’m using FF now and don’t see it while viewing the forum, but I do while viewing any blog.
