green "shareThis" button – how do I add this to widgets?
-
I am trying to add the green “shareThis” button to my sidebar
http://sharethis.com/publishers/get-hovering-buttons
Every time I add the html code to the “text” widget, all it does is shoe the actual html code on the sidebar – not the icon.
Please tell me how do I do this?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t. There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot install individual plugins. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs only. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
See here for enabling sharing buttons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

Thanks for your answer. Does that mean I can’t do a “Christmas Countdown” animated picture or anything like that?

So then I can’t do this to add a shareThis button?
Adding Your Own Service
If you would like to add a sharing service to your blog that is not available in the standard set, you can add it using the Add a new service link in the Available Services section.
You will need to enter:
Service name
Sharing URL
Icon URL
The Service name is the name you would like to use for the sharing service. It will appear in the link to the service and in the blog sharing stats, i.e. BuzzThe Sharing URL is the URL address to the sharing service. You can use the variables %post_title%, %post_url% (short URL), %post_full_url% and %post_excerpt% in the URL, i.e. http://www.google.com/buzz/post?url=%post_url%
The Icon URL is the URL address to the icon image you wish to use for this service, i.e. http://www.someserver.com/images/buzz.png
Save the service and the new service will appear in the Available Services section.

To my knowledge, you can’t insert that button here. It looks like it contains JavaScript, which is also not allowed here at WordPress.com.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/The instructions you see in the Sharing support document…

…are for adding a specific service that is not part of the default ones (such as MySpace). -

Does that mean I can’t do a “Christmas Countdown” animated picture or anything like that?
There are free Christmas countdown tickers/banners that can be used on WordPress.com blogs available at Ult-Tex All Occasion Countdown Banners.
Also, you’re welcome from me. :)
