Greenery theme question – ABOUT missing

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to help my friend set up a blog.

We’re using the greenery theme, and somehow deleted the “About” section. Does anyone have a clue how we get this back?

At the top right corner of the blog there used to be a “Home” and an “About” section. Now there’s only a home.

    Thanks.

You need to go to Dashboard > Write > Write Page; it sounds like you might have deleted the previous about page, but if you just write another page called About it should slot in next to the Home section. Any pages you write should show up at the top of the blog. Hope that helps. :)

    Thanks cjwriter, that worked.

Related question – – on my blog, there’s not a “Home” section. I don’t think there ever was. If I follow the steps I did for about, it will just return me to a page called Home. I want it to return people to the screen they see when they first login.

    Is this possible?

Yes, the Home section gets replaced by the name of your blog; if you click that it will return you to the front page. If you want it to be more obvious that that, go to Dashboard > Presentation > Widgets and add a text widget to the top you sidebar. If you add this code to the widget, it’ll create a link there so people can click it.
    <h2 class="widgettitle"><a href="http://pbandjenny.wordpress.com/">Home</a></h2>

An alternative is to set a static page at the front of your blog; that means you’ll have a welcome page and a separate page for your posts, more like a website. Hope one of those helps. :)

Thanks again cjwriter. You’re being very helpful on all my questions (other posts included). I don’t think I want a static page, at least from what I can tell of how it would operate/look.

I tried what you first listed, and the code worked great. Since I titled my textbox though, it looked weird since it said home/home. So, I just left the title off. I wish I could put it at the top right of my blog, but looks like only sidebar.

You’re welcome for the help. I’m afraid I don’t know enough about the line spacing to help on that one, but hopefully someone else will.

The static page isn’t always the best idea as it can hurt your standing on Google anyway, so the home link probably works best. And you can always add other links later on if you wanted to make it look more like a hierarchy. Happy blogging. :)
