Group Block BG not displaying on Front End

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I’m writing as I need some help with the background color for a group block I created on each of my website’s pages.

In Edit mode, the background color for my group is showing appropriately as white (my page background is more of a soft blue-green). However, upon hitting Preview, the group block is the same color as the rest of my site’s background.

I didn’t have this problem until … today? The site was showing the colors appropriately until this afternoon. I worked a little bit in CSS earlier today, but upon suspecting that might have caused the issue, I removed the Additional CSS entirely. There is still no change.

I’m currently using the Shawburn theme. I’ve installed different themes and gone back to Shawburn with no result.

TL;DR, my group block has a different background color in Edit mode than in Preview mode on both desktop and mobile. The group block colors worked fine until this afternoon. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

    Thanks in advance!!

    V/r,
    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

Can you tell us the title of the specific post/page you’re working on so we can take a look? It might also be helpful if you can take screen shots of what you see in the editor and in the preview. If you upload those directly to the media library, we’ll be able to view those there.

Also note that your plan gives you access to both live chat and direct email support. You can reach those at any time by clicking the Help icon that appears bottom-right on all the My Sites pages, or else via the direct link at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

    Hi there!

I’ve been trying to recreate your problem, but so far I haven’t had problems changing a group’s background color using the Shawburn theme.
As your site is not public yet, I cannot confirm if the problem appears from my side or if it’s only for you.

I would recommend first, clearing your browser caché as this is a common fix when changes on the site are not reflected. You can follow these instructions on how to do it: https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

    Hope this helps!

Good morning, kokkieh and cuellin! Thank you both so much for trying to help me!! I’ve done a browser cache clear to no avail. I have uploaded screenshots of the issue here:

    Edit Mode: https://harpandharmony.files.wordpress.com/2022/03/screen-shot-2022-03-18-at-8.23.31-am.png
    Preview Mode: https://harpandharmony.files.wordpress.com/2022/03/screen-shot-2022-03-18-at-8.23.46-am.png

This is oddly happening on all pages of my site, not just one specific page. Since my site hasn’t officially launched yet, I’m not sure if you are able to view my pages, but here are links to some of them as requested:

    http://harp-and-harmony.com/ (Home)
    http://harp-and-harmony.com/bookings/ (Bookings)
    http://harp-and-harmony.com/repertoire/ (Repertoire List)

The social icons at the very bottom on each page should have a white BG, and as you can see, they do in Edit but not on the front end. Thanks again for all you can do to assist!!

    V/r,
    Sarah

  • Hello Sarah,

I don’t know if you have tried this or not.

On a page you have the problem with, have you tried changing the background to another color? Specifically, try picking a color that’s not already on the palette. Please see the following image

I once had a problem with a color (e.g. #e7e7e7) not showing. When I changed to a very similar color (e.g. #e8e8e8), I was able to get it to show.

Let me know if this helps.
