  A friend and I want to start a blog in collaboration. My question is, can I add the new group blog to my existing WP account or will we need a new account? Will I have to share my password with her or is there any other way?

  While logged into your WordPress.com account, simply visit https://wordpress.com/signup and register a new blog. This new blog will simply be added to your existing account.

  thanks bubel. but can we both post on the new account without me revealing my password to her? thats what I want to know.

  Yes, absolutely. Just add the other user to the blog in question as an appropriate role – http://support.wordpress.com/adding-users/ . They will not use your account at all to access it.
