Guest Blogger??
-
I just have a question about guest blogging… I have looked into all the forums about gaining more traffic and I fully understand that it is not an overnight thing and it seems that the true key to establishing lasting readers is to write write write. My question is this, Every site I look at or blog that i read about driving traffic recommends either getting a guest blogger or to be a guest blogger on someone elses blog… How do you go about establishing this? Do I just wait for someone to read my blog and go, Hmmm I want this guy to write on my blog or vice versa? I have decent traffic coming in for only doing this for a week or so but obviously I want to maximize my numbers, and in a way that is worth doing, I know the numbers mean nothing if the quality is not there.
Thanks,
Raymond

1) unless the person you’re inviting has an established following that is loyal and follows them from site to site, AND is willing to publicize the guest stint, it’s a useless endeavor.
2) you would email them or leave a comment on their site asking if they’d be interested. If you are approaching high-profile people or pros, expect them to ask for money to do this. Your blog is a week old, so think why they would want to guest blog for you for free. I suggest you wait until you’ve been around six months at least.

Thanks for the info, I am not thinking about having someone guest blog I was just curious how the whole thing works because I have seen so much about it during my searching around.

It’s really not as effective as some self-promoters think. There is a sort of circle jerk with MLMers, etc, who do this and then tell all their readers to go read it in exchange for return guest blogs etc etc endlessly, but I have not seen this make a breakthrough for anyone’s blog, or really have much effect at all except when the guest was an actual celebrity.

That is the hang up I was having with it, It seems to recommend guest blogging as a HUGE thing and I was thinking exactly what you wrote… How would it make any difference if it was not a celebrity or some sort.. Hmm okay, thanks for answering my question though it really cleared that up.

Also any site that features you or your site will want to see some sort of track record to make sure that your content is what their existing visitors want to see and also that you are not some 30 day wonder that will die at the end of the month.
Links to individual articles are more forgiving and seem to be related to very specific content in a Post.

I it was someone who had a huge amount of followers on twitter or facebook friends, if they posted a link to the piece on their site it might get you a better rate for that one piece.
The site needs content though, and as huge numbers of people drop off after a short time when thy lose interest, people don’t tend to wan to contribute to something until it’s established.
You might want to try blogsurfer and 2leep. Blogsurfer will get you hits to your home page but not many go past that. 2leep works by submitting a blog post to them and if they accept it.
Most of the article I’ve seen about generating hits to your site just regurgitate the same information.

I have a guest blogging policy here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/guest-posts/ Several of my regular readers have submitted posts to me that I published on my blogging tips blog. I do not provide Admin area access to my blog. I use email and I so the posting. Aside from that I receive guest blog requests from the circle jerk types raincoaster refers to above every day that I delete on sight.
